Free Knitting Instructions For Shrugs
Shrugs are usually knitted in one piece, often using circular needles. If you’ve never used them before, don’t worry – they’re really quite straightforward. The main thing to remember is that you must place a stitch marker at the point of the first stitch. Many of the patterns you’ll find for shrugs will be knitted in one piece using a fold over technique for the arms. You then need to be familiar with increasing and decreasing techniques as they’re usually a key part of shrug patterns. If you're a bit unsure of how to do this, have a look at our increasing and decreasing instructions. Shrugs tend to be narrower across the shoulders and back than at the arms, taking up less yarn and space than the traditional cardigan. There are numerous patterns and styles of shrugs and we’ve collected some of our favorites here.
